In the early morning of March 24, 2025, we and our classmates made our way to Frankfurt Airport, where our trip to Dublin officially began. At 8:30 a.m., a total of 22 students met at Terminal 2 together with Ms. Lorenz, Mr. Theobald and Mr. Ritter to start the journey as a group. Fortunately, we got through check-in and security very quickly and without any complications, so we were even able to take a deep breath at our gate an hour before boarding. And then our journey really got started at 10:20 a.m., we boarded and were able to make our way onto the plane shortly afterwards.
After about two hours in the air, we landed on Irish territory. When we had finally got our luggage back, we took the bus to Dublin city center, from where we walked to our hostel, where we quickly found our way around. After we had left our luggage in our rooms and had some time to freshen up after the flight, we went on a tour around Dublin, which we completed independently in small groups with the help of an app. To finish the long Monday, we came together at the hostel in the evening to all have dinner together.
The next morning, we all had breakfast together in the hostel and made our way to Trinity College to look at the Book of Kells, followed by the National Gallery, where we looked at pieces of art from different eras. In the evening, just like the day before, we all had dinner together in the hostel and played games.
On Wednesday, we took the train to Howth to enjoy the beautiful view from the sea. The cliff walk was also an exciting experience that we can only recommend. As on the previous days, we all had dinner together at the hostel. One surprise that our teachers prepared for us was a visit to the cinema with which we ended the day.
On our second to last day in Dublin, we visited the Irish Emigration Museum where we learned a lot about the history of Ireland, then after lunch we did short presentations about sights in Dublin and then had some free time before we all ate together at the Hard Rock Cafe thanks to the Freundeskreis who made it possible for us. Friday was unfortunately, our last day in Dublin, which meant we had to pack our bags and move out of our rooms. Even though this was a sad moment for all of us, the school trip to Dublin was an incredibly eventful and fascinating trip that brought our classes closer together and made them stronger, and we are grateful that we were able to take part in this school trip and gain these experiences.
